EGPA, Ltd. Announces 2008 EGPA Web Awards

LONDON — Producers of the European Gay Porn Awards have announced the creation of the 2008 EGPA Web Awards.

The awards will take place in Berlin during the international trade fair Venus Berlin in October.

“As we all know in this technological age, not all gay porn is studio based,” EGPA director Marc Cram said. “Truth is, some of the best action around is on the web — a fact that millions of people have long since realized.

“Having so successfully launched the European Gay Porn Awards last year, we are now hereby acknowledging the importance of web-based GLBT entertainment with the launch of the EGPA Web Awards.”

The awards will run alongside its sister show, the European Gay Porn Awards.

“The marvel of the web is that it knows no geographical boundaries,” Cram said. “As a result, the EGPA Web Awards will be an essentially European celebration but will obviously welcome nominees from every quarter of the globe — America, Asia, Australia — it won’t matter one bit. So long as it serves the worldwide online gay community and it’s filthy hot we shall be more than happy to spotlight such achievement.”

Nominations for the EGPA Web Awards will be requested from both the public and webmasters from March 1-May 16.

A public vote will then take place at the EGPA Web Awards website between June and September to determine the ultimate winners, which will then be announced at the Venus Berlin show in October.

“As such, it’ll once again be the ordinary gay guy on the street who’ll be deciding which individuals and companies deserve one of our awards,” Cram said. “Honors given not through the whims and fancies of industry moguls and so-called insiders, but by means of the only people who matter: ordinary guys who know and love good gay porn when they see it.”

The 2nd Annual European Gay Porn Awards — produced to honor studio-produced porn — will take place at the UfaFabrik International Centre in Berlin on Saturday, May 17.

“With almost every major producer represented at the event, it promises to be a star-spangled celebration in every sense of the word — one that anyone who’s anyone in the world of gay porn would be a fool to miss,” Cram said. “After last year’s fantastic show in Amsterdam, Berlin promises to be an even greater occasion. The perfect opportunity to celebrate the best that DVD-based gay porn has to offer, and the ideal chance for the whole industry to network.”

EGPA Ltd was established in 2007 as a democratic method of recognition for the studios and stars of gay porn. In addition, the company also publishes the annual European Gay Porn Directory, which lists gay porn available to rent and buy across Europe.

“We believe that porn represents an integral but all-too-often unacknowledged and understated aspect of life for many gay men,” Cram said. “As such, it serves to reward and encourage both those who feature in and those who produce this very specialized form of cinematography.”
