The nomination is for the studio’s first foray into the gay marketplace with “College Invasion: Male Vol. 1,” featuring gay performers Caleb Carter, Tommy D, Trevor Knight and Christian Owens on a trip to Portland, Ore., where the group parties with college-aged amateurs. The video’s premise is a Shane’s World standard popularized with other “College Invasion” titles.
“I think the reason ‘College Invasion: Male’ has been so well received is because we didn’t deviate from the Shane’s World brand. We didn’t head out and say let’s make a ‘Gay Shane’s World’ movie. We said let’s make another really good movie,” Shane’s World owner Jennie Grant said. “We are just thrilled we have been able to reach out and gain a whole new set of fans.”
Shane’s World decided to move into the gay market after receiving requests from consumers on their website. According to the company, the title has become one of their best-selling movies.
“We are so honored that our first effort has been acknowledged by the GAYVNs,” Shane’s World Vice President of Sales Megan Stokes said.
