txtNation Launches Billing Service for 240-Plus Countries

CYBERSPACE — txtNation has launched a new billing service for WAP sites that allows billing on phones in more than 240 countries.

An XML feed is used to communicate between the two platforms: WAP site and the txtNation billing system. Already live on high-traffic sites such as Mobile1to1, a live cam chat site, users can pay for cam time on their cellphone by calling the premium rate numbers displayed on the WAP payment pages and then gain access to the content/services.

"Offering a plug-and-play billing solution for WAP sites that are looking for alterative billing systems we felt an XML-based system will be the most preferred," director Michael Whelan said, "as this allows for dynamic changing of the premium numbers on the fly if required."

Uptake of this system can be seen in the conversions over traditional WAP payment systems that include the low level of uptake on credit cards for WAP sites, a representative said.

"Version 2.0 of this service will also include web call functions built into the pages," Whelan said.
