ASACP Releases RTA Demo for Mainstream, Adult Support

LOS ANGELES — ASACP has released an online video to demonstrate the adult industry's commitment to self-regulation through the RTA label.

The video, viewable at YouTube.com and ASACP's MySpace page, features clips from the June press conference during which ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine announced the RTA label's inception.

“It is important that we get out the message that the adult industry is not trying to hurt children, but in actuality they want to protect them," Irvine said. "In fact I am on my way to D.C. right now to bring that very message to members of Congress. I hope that people in the industry will also help us to get that point across by sharing this video.”

Else Duff, manager of communications and government affairs for ASACP, told XBIZ that after seeing a positive response to the video, the organization is hoping to create an RTA video public service announcement campaign that will feature industry members discussing the website label.

"ASACP is working to get out the word of RTA to people in D.C.," Duff said, "so they know the adult industry can self-label and that there is no need for mandatory labeling. The video is just one more way to reach people — some people just respond better to visual messages."

Irvine said that she has never met an adult content producer who wanted children to view his or her work, but unfortunately there are many people who believe that the industry wants to corrupt children.

"The reason we have created this video is to clearly state that this is not the case,” Irvine said.

In addition to the press conference footage, the ASACP video includes commentary from adult industry attorney Gregory Piccionelli and Wicked Pictures contract star and director Stormy Daniels, who both discuss the ways the industry is taking responsibility for labeling their work.
