LOS ANGELES — Payment gateway Centrobill will attend XBIZ Amsterdam, which runs Sept. 10-13.
At Centrobill, local payment methods sit alongside cards, e-wallets, and crypto on the same platform, routed through the same multi-bank infrastructure that keeps merchant accounts live across 150+ countries.
"Cards aren't the only way the world pays anymore, and for merchants running complex or age-gated platforms, that's an opportunity, not a problem," said a company rep. "Pix in Brazil; iDEAL in the Netherlands, where it already covers over 70% of online payments (Currence); SPEI and OXXO in Mexico; Bizum in Spain; SEPA across the EU. These aren't alternative options; they're the default. And merchants who meet customers there see it show up directly in performance, as Adyen's Global Payments Report found that adding local payment methods lifts international conversion by 27% on average."
The upside is real and well-documented, as local payment methods make up around 14% of global e-commerce transactions, per Worldpay, and Baymard Institute research shows 13% of shoppers abandon checkout when their preferred payment method isn't there. For merchants in high-risk and specialty verticals, offering customers the right payment method at checkout can be crucial.
"I've spent 25 years in payments, and I remember when local payment methods were a 'nice to have' for merchants going global," said Len Garcia, Chief Sales Officer at Centrobill, whose team will be on-site at XBIZ Amsterdam for one-on-one conversations about checkout performance, approval rates, and other payment issues.
