LOS ANGELES — After 13 years on screen, Vince Karter has taken his talents to the other side of the camera.
He recently made his studio directing debut for Evil Angel, where five scenes helmed by the two-time Euro XMAs Male Performer of the Year are already streaming.
Karter’s directorial transition began with a phone call.
“I called John Stagliano to let him know I was interested in directing for Evil Angel,” he explains. “He told me they liked my style and that since I had performed for them for a very long time, it would be nice to add my own touch to my productions. That was the beginning of this beautiful adventure.”
Since starting in the industry, Karter says Evil Angel has always been the brand with which he has connected most strongly.
“They shoot what I like to see,” he attests. “It is always a pleasure to perform for them.”
Given that background, it was only natural that the classic Evil Angel style would influence his work as a director.
“I’m from the generation that was watching Rocco Siffredi, and I got a lot of experience and knowledge from his videos,” Karter recalls. “Later, I had the chance to work with Rocco for several years in Budapest, and it was a very good opportunity for me to improve my skills, to learn how to take the lead, and to be able to make their style of intense scenes.”
Karter believes that Evil Angel's roster of directors all have “the same soul.”
“Evil Angel is very passionate,” he says. “It can be hardcore, it can be kinky, but overall it’s about loving sex. I have worked with different studios that focus on specific types of things, like kink or BDSM, but I think Evil Angel has a good balance. It’s mainstream, but with a super-kinky touch. This style really speaks to me the most.”
His current directorial output features releases with Sedona Reign, Sarah Arabic, Maya Woulfe, Jesse Pony, and Kali Roses. Soon, the studio will release a Karter-helmed scene co-starring real-life girlfriend Ivy Ireland and another with Anna Claire Clouds.
On the same January night that Clouds took home this year’s XMAs Female Performer of the Year trophy, she also landed a Best Sex Scene award for a group scene with Karter.
“I told her, ‘We have to do another scene together to celebrate,’” he recalls. “I love the way she performs. She’s definitely one of the top industry talents of her generation. This was the first time with me directing her, and it was a very special thing because she always brings something to the table.”
Meanwhile, the scene with Ireland proved to be one of the kinkiest Karter has shot to date.
“We always go crazy,” he enthuses. “We have our own personal connection, something you cannot have with some performer that you just shoot with on occasion. It’s our own special thing. Plus, she’s super naughty and super kinky. The roughness and extremely passionate parts are not something I can do with all models because I don’t know them as well. I can go much further because I know her, and I know what she likes. When we perform together, the moment becomes magic.”
Karter says he also appreciates the creative freedom that Evil Angel allows.
“I can do exactly what I envision,” he affirms. “So I am dedicating a lot of time to it.”
Looking ahead, Karter says he is also interested in producing independently.
“I’d like to create a decent enough catalogue so that I have plenty of content to launch a solid site,” he shares. “That will be my next project — but for now, I am focusing on Evil Angel.”
