LOS ANGELES — Veteran performer and director Mark Anthony has reportedly passed away at the age of 56.
While no information has been confirmed regarding the specific date or cause of death, Anthony's passing was noted in several posts on X.com beginning on Saturday.
"Just found out Mark Anthony passed away," long-time performer Mr. Marcus posted. "We used to talk frequently but over time, life had us go in different directions. But every once in a while, he liked a post or sent me a message on social media. Still making me laugh. We spent many days just cracking jokes and laughing about life. I will miss you, Mark. Rest up, brotha."
Born in Pensacola, Fla., Anthony has more than 1,300 performing credits stretching back to 1993. He appeared in hundreds of titles throughout the 1990s and 2000s for Devil's Film, West Coast Productions, and Dogfart, among others. In 2009, he was inducted into the Urban X Hall of Fame.
He first appeared for Evasive Angles in 1999, a collaboration that lasted nearly two decades and saw Anthony step behind the camera to direct just under 100 scenes for the site.
