Adult Site Broker Talk's Bruce Friedman Reflects on Podcast Success

PATTAYA, Thailand — The 200th episode of “Adult Site Broker Talk” will air next week, with 2023 XBIZ Performer of the Year Cherie DeVille as the featured guest.

XBIZ spoke with industry veteran Bruce Friedman, who runs Adult Site Broker and for the past four years has hosted the insider podcast.

Friedman jokes that he started ASB Talk because he didn’t have enough to do.

“I’m kidding,” he laughs. “I used to be a sportscaster and I missed the creativity of doing something like this. And podcasts are popular and a great way to promote your business.”

After going back to listen to the first episode — which premiered a few months into the 2020 pandemic shutdown and featured LALExpo’s Anthony Rivera — Friedman says that he feels proud of how far the show has come in less than half a decade.

“What’s funny is how bad the show sounded technically then compared to now,” he admits. “I’ve really upped my technical game in terms of using a premium microphone, hiring an editor, sound processing, etc.”

Any interview show is only as strong as its guests, so it is fortunate for “Adult Site Broker Talk” that Friedman is a persistent booker.

Segments with industry attorneys, he says, “always end up interesting, especially in these crazy times with the War on Porn. Mike Stabile and Alison Boden of FSC have also given me some fascinating segments. And my podcasting sisters Lily Craven of ‘Phone Sex with Lily’ and Coralyn Jewel of ‘Embrace’ are always fun.

“Really, I’ve had so many great guests I can’t list the best or most interesting,” Friedman adds, though he notes that next week’s special anniversary show is poised to be on the list, and urges listeners to tune in.

“Cherie’s visit was very memorable,” he says. “She’s the biggest star I’ve had on — a porn megastar. Finding out about all the other parts of her life also blew me away, and I think the audience will have the same reaction.”

Friedman started off in the industry as a webmaster running a couple of sites, but realized it “wasn’t his thing.”

“I fell back on what I knew — providing businesses B2B services, first marketing, then consulting and finally website brokering,” he explains. “We keep getting more referrals and that makes us more successful. Plus, we deal with larger deals now. It’s a natural progression, but it’s still just me and some subcontractors. I don’t have and don’t want employees.”

As the industry has changed, Friedman notes, he has had to adapt and diversify.

“The biggest initial change was the tube sites,” he recalls. “Then most recently the OnlyFans phenomenon, so now we have also started 'Only Fans Agency Broker.'”

Friedman sees a bright future ahead, for his suite of B2B services and for the podcast.

“I hope to be doing both for many years to come,” he concludes. “If something isn’t broken, why fix it?”
