Netflix to Premiere Pornhub Documentary 'Money Shot'

LOS ANGELES — Netflix will debut a new original documentary, “Money Shot: The Pornhub Story,” on March 15.

The documentary is produced by Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions and directed by Suzanne Hillinger.

According to Netflix, the film surveys how Pornhub amassed “a massive audience while the company made billions of dollars — but it also became embroiled in allegations including non-consensual material and trafficking on the site. As anti-trafficking organizations seek justice for victims, can the online giant protect those from whom they profit, or is this a new wave of censorship for adult performers making consensual porn?”

Director Hillinger explained through a statement that her documentary “requires us to grapple with what sexuality and consent mean when billion-dollar internet platforms thrive on user-generated content. Who has, and who should have, the power in these environments? Our hope is that this film generates important conversations about sex and consent, both on the internet and out in the world.”

Performer, creator and writer Siri Dahl, who appears in “Money Shot,” told XBIZ that she “had a really positive interview for the documentary. While I am excited for my industry colleagues to watch it, more than anything I’m excited that millions of Netflix viewers will get to see a more nuanced take on the adult industry.”
