PASS Calls for 7-Day Production Hold After Reports of Increase in STIs

LOS ANGELES — PASS has called for a week-long production hold following recent reports of an increase in STIs among talent.

The statement by PASS follows:

PASS is calling a seven-day production hold on adult content after a reported increase in STIs among adult performers and content creators. All producers and performers should abstain from non-solo adult content production until after December 12, 2022.

All tests within the PASS system will be reset, and performers will need to retest on or after December 12, 2022 in order to be cleared for work. Those who are not currently testing within the PASS system should also retest on or after December 12, and make sure that potential partners have also tested clear on or after December 12.

The production hold comes after reports on an increase in chlamydia among adult performers and content creators. Over the past several days, PASS has been in contact with labs, performers and other stakeholders.

“We are calling the production hold out of an abundance of caution,” says Ian O’Brien, Executive Director of PASS. “Given the changes in the industry and recent increase in testing outside of the PASS system, we are concerned that data we have may not be reflective of the experiences of performers. The seven-day production hold and required retest will help identify any existing infections and prevent potential transmissions. We will provide more information to the community as it becomes available.”

PASS has provided testing guidance and administered the industry testing database since 2011. Performers who work within the PASS system are required to test every two weeks for a full slate of STIs, including HIV, chlamydia, syphilis and gonorrhea.

There has not been an on-set transmission of HIV on a PASS-regulated set in over a decade.
