Journalist Leyna Nguyen to Moderate #SexTalkTuesday

LOS ANGELES — #SexTalkTuesday has announced Emmy-winning journalist Leyna Nguyen will serve as guest moderator for this week's edition of the Twitter-based chat show to discuss "sex after 40, non-monogamy and beyond" from 5-6 p.m. (PDT).

"After 26 years of covering hard news, Leyna stepped away from the anchor desk to focus on family, philanthropy and fun," noted a rep. "Previously, she made broadcast history by becoming the first newscaster ever to anchor the news on two stations in the same market, with the unprecedented Viacom-owned duopoly of KCBS and KCAL-TV. She has also appeared in over 35 television shows and movies. Currently, she is the host of the 'Consenting Adults' podcast, which focuses on the active private lives of the 40-plus crowd."

Nguyen stated that "sexuality is such an important part of aging and I’m convinced that people who focus more on it as they age actually stay younger, and enjoy life more."

"After 40, you’ve taken care of your career, kids and family — now it’s time for you," she added. "As we age, we learn to shed shame, care less about what other people think, and start exploring what brings us joy. Middle-age may be the sexiest time in your life so stop doing what you think is expected of you, and start doing what is 'suspected' of you."

Angie Rowntree, producer of #SexTalkTuesday and the founder of Sssh.com, echoed those sentiments.

"I couldn’t agree more with Leyna, and we are delighted to have her join us on #SexTalkTuesday to address the broader topic of sex after 40," she said. "Even if our culture is ‘youth biased,’ sexuality is something that a healthy person continues to cultivate throughout their adult life — even if it may be expressed or manifested in different ways."

"Age not only equals experience, but it also translates to greater confidence and an even bigger appetite for exploring uncharted territory or discovering new pleasure," she said.
