Stoya, Dale Cooper Promote Foreplay in New Skyn Condoms Campaign

LOS ANGELES — Skyn Condoms is reaching out to online adult consumers with a series of ads, featuring Stoya and Dale Cooper, focused on promoting sexual intimacy.

"You can skip an ad," tease both stars in their respective commercials, "but you shouldn't skip foreplay."

Skyn, created by Lifestyles Healthcare, also produces lubricants and sexual wellness products, besides prophylactics.

A recent survey conducted by Skyn found 67% of male respondents learn about sex from porn, explained a company rep, which often results in a skewed understanding of sex and pleasure.

Although 85% of respondents to Skyn's survey agreed that foreplay is a crucial component of sexual intimacy, half of them "skip to the first action" when watching adult content on Pornhub, while a third "skip directly to penetration," said the rep. "Skyn, a brand whose mission has always centered on true intimacy, believes that a more human connection begins at the onset of sex, starting with foreplay."

The promo campaign was designed, with the Sid Lee Paris agency, to accompany high-profile adult content on Pornhub.

“At Skyn we pride ourselves on being a brand that not only provides a variety of products to aid in intimacy, but a brand that promotes real emotional connections,” said Nicolas Woussen, global brand manager at LifeStyles Healthcare.

"While foreplay is a key pillar to any sexual interaction, it is often overlooked in pornography," he explained, "where many young people are getting their [information]. We need to change consumer behavior and promote more intimate and real connections."

Cooper, a gay adult star, and Stoya were recruited to encourage consumers to embrace physical intimacy.

“Porn is asked to fill the gap left when sexual education is lacking,” said Cooper.

"All sex education cannot be thrown on porn, but at the same time, porn could play a bigger role — instead of just focusing on penetration, porn can discussing barrier use [and] show actors putting on a condom," he noted. "I appreciate Skyn's mission that foreplay is a super-important part of intimacy and it often gets cut when it comes to mainstream pornography."

Stoya echoed Cooper's comments.

"Pornography isn’t a how-to guide," she said. "And one of the many things sexual education classes don't focus on enough is the importance of foreplay."
