Pornhub Reports Spike in Content Consumption

LOS ANGELES — Pornhub has released a series of statistics today regarding the spike in both overall content consumption and specific coronavirus searches since the outbreak of COVID-19.

"Searches containing 'coronavirus' and 'corona virus' first appeared on January 25 and continued to grow," reveals the Coronavirus Insights report. "In the past 30 days, our statisticians recorded more than 6.8 million searches containing either 'corona' or 'covid.' Searches peaked on March 5 at 1.5 million."

Broken down by state/district, the District of Columbia has seen the largest increase in coronavirus-related searches, which are up by 33 percent, according to the study.

The study also looked at overall content consumption globally, using this past Wednesday, March 11, as a representative coronavirus-affected day. It found that compared to regular daily usage, global viewership rose by 5.7 percent with peaks at 3 a.m., 7 p.m. and, notably for a weekday, 1 p.m.

Unsurprisingly, the largest national increase in daily content consumption on Pornhub took place in Italy, which has been hit particularly hard by the virus and is on almost total lockdown (not to mention Pornhub is offering free Pornhub Premium access to the entire country). Pornhub has seen a 13.8 percent increase in traffic in the country.
