Adam & Eve Survey: How Much Does America Spend on Sex Toys?

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — AdamEve.com has announced the results of an annual poll revealing how much, on average, people spend for a sex toy. "The numbers may surprise you," said a rep.

According to the survey, while nearly 50 percent of those polled (54 percent of the males vs. 45 percent of the females) said their sex toys cost under $20, 34 percent of the respondents (31 percent of the males and 37 percent of the females) spent between $20 and $50 on theirs.

Just over 13 percent of those surveyed (12 percent of the males and 14 percent of the females) paid between $50 and $100 for an adult toy, and 3 percent said they spent over $100.

"You get what you pay for, at least when it comes to sex toys,” said Dr. Jenni Skyler, resident sexologist for the company. “Sure, a $10 vibrator or couples ring can get the job done, but these need to be replaced fairly often. Sex toys have come a long way in the past few years — many are now USB rechargeable, waterproof and crafted in high quality materials such as glass or silicone.”

Chad Davis, director of marketing, notes the company carries "a wide variety of adult toys for every comfort level."

"Because there are so many different types of toys, and not everyone responds the same way to each one," Davis added, "I encourage new toy buyers to try out smaller, less expensive types to see what works for them. Adam & Eve is constantly promoting great offers."

The web-based survey — conducted by an independent, third-party survey company — of over 1,000 American adults aged 18 and up, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
