LOS ANGELES — The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) has announced Segpay as its newest corporate sponsor.
ASACP’s Executive Director Tim Henning said that association sponsors such as Segpay illustrate how proactive corporate responsibility and ethical operation can make a real-life difference in protecting at-risk youth online.
“By sponsoring ASACP, the industry’s most prominent players prove that legal adult entertainment and mainstream digital media businesses alike, as well as their support services, such as billing pros Segpay, are capable of ‘doing the right thing’ when it comes to preventing children from accessing adult-oriented materials,” Henning explained. “ASACP is grateful to the commitment to online child protection that Segpay continues to make, and we encourage other companies to embrace a similar leadership role in keeping children out of and away from adult-oriented materials.”
For her part, Segpay CEO Cathy Beardsley said the company is proud to work with the association to help carry out the crucial mission of making the internet safer for children.
“As a mother of three myself, it’s an issue that’s especially important to me and one that Segpay takes very seriously,” Beardsley explained. “Where our merchants don’t already use age verification measures, we encourage them to take advantage of ASACP’s ‘Restricted To Adults’ labeling to help parents filter content that is not intended for children.”
Beardsley said the company’s strict commitment to compliance dictates that it regularly reviews and checks its merchants’ content to identify, report and immediately shut down any child exploitation wherever it is found.
“ASACP plays a crucial role in facilitating this reporting and ensuring a trusted online environment which, ultimately helps the adult industry become more accepted in mainstream society,” Beardsley concluded. “That is good for our business while helping to make the world a better place.”
Through the efforts of its staff and volunteers, the association makes tremendous use of the support it receives from its sponsor community to continue its 23-year record of success, including notable achievements such as its Child Exploitation Tipline, which has processed more than 1 million reports to-date, earning accolades while working with law enforcement agencies worldwide. In addition, ASACP’s educational, informational, and inspirational resources provide a range of market-specific Best Practices and a universal Code of Ethics for online businesses, app- and website operators.
ASACP’s Restricted To Adults (RTA) meta label helps parents by preventing their children’s access to billions of adult-oriented webpages and mobile apps and is offered to all site and app publishers free of charge, as are all ASACP services, thanks to the generosity of the nonprofit association’s sponsors, such as Segpay.
“ASACP’s sponsors showcase the diversity of support that the association receives from a wide range of market segments,” Henning concluded. “The generous contributions by leading companies such as Segpay is what enables ASACP’s continued positive achievements in improving the daily digital lives of today’s constantly connected youth.”
