AdamEve.com Asks 'Has Your Condom Ever Broken?'

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Adam & Eve has revealed new results from its annual sex survey, which asked more than 1,000 adults if their condoms had ever broken or come off during sex.

According to the company, while more than half of the adults polled (59 percent) said that they had never lost or broken a condom during sexual activity, a whopping 41 percent of those surveyed said they had.

Dr. Jenni Skyler, a resident sexologist at Adam & Eve, finds this number alarming.

“Condoms are 98 percent effective when used correctly and consistently,” Skyler said. “Most condom breakage or loss is due to human error, such as poor handling, or using an expired or ill-fitting condom. I encourage adults to sample different sizes, styles and reputable brands of condoms to find one that works for them.”

“When a condom breaks or comes off during sex, it can be very upsetting for couples,” Skyler added. “For couples who are using condoms for birth control, the morning after pills may be an option to prevent pregnancy in this situation. Depending on the situation, I would also recommend visiting a doctor to test for STIs as well.”

“Adam & Eve supports safe sex practices,” said Chad Davis, director of marketing for Adam & Eve. “We started as a condoms-by-mail company in 1971, and we continue to provide condoms in an array of sizes, materials and designs.”

The web-based survey, conducted by an independent third-party survey company, was sponsored by Adam & Eve to study sexual preferences and practices.
