LAS VEGAS – The Erotic Heritage Museum (EHM) will host the “Goddess” variety show from local burlesque duo The Roommatez Thursday, Nov. 8.
The program is set to include “four acts, and a friendly stage kitty, hosted by Las Vegas burlesque icon Miss Miranda Glamour,” a rep said. The Roommatez is comprised of performers – and actual roommates – Elyse Elaine and Ashleyy Secret.
“Since moving to Sin City, from San Francisco’s Bay Area, with the specific goal of producing a show to shine the light on POC entertainers, the duo have tested their formula, researched both the Vegas scene as well as performers nationwide, and have curated a variety show which gives performing artists of color a safe space to explore, create, and discuss all aspects of sexuality and body positivity,” said the rep.
An EHM representative praised the duo for their vision. “The culture of sexuality is represented in so many ways — gender, race, sexual preference, and so much more — and live entertainment is one of the most delightful ways to experience that diversity,” the EHM rep said.
“Burlesque, its history, and its many varied versions, are a big part of Las Vegas’ story. Ashleyy and Elyse have curated a fantastic showcase of burlesque performers of color, and we are thrilled to host The Roommatez’ show in our space; we look forward to seeing everyone attend and be entertained while showing their support for the local entertainment community, and, in particular, people of color.”
Elaine said the duo are “anxiously awaiting” showtime. “Ashleyy and I are so excited to show you all what we’ve been working on. We have learned so much in the process, and look forward to the growth and evolution of ‘Goddess,’” she said. “We had no idea what we were truly getting ourselves into, and we have enjoyed every minute of this amazing roller coaster ride! Ashleyy and I are so proud of this project.”
“Goddess” will play in the EHM’s Jewel Box Theatre. The show — also featuring performers DeMarcus Montrese , Farasha Desert Siren and NEON — starts “promptly” at 10:00 p.m. Purchase tickets here.
