StandardPay Partners With MediaKey

BARCELONA, Spain – StandardPay, payment solution provider for European adult merchants, has formed a partnership with MediaKey, a licensed Microsoft Windows Media DRM Service and Solution Provider.

Both companies have fully integrated their respective applications, allowing webmasters to sell DRM-protected content and accept secure payments from global markets.

“We are very pleased to count StandardPay among our world-leading billing partners,” MediaKey CEO Leon Standly said. “We strive to offer competitive and innovative solutions and the integration with StandardPay will greatly benefit current and future European clients. Last time I checked it was pretty difficult to obtain a high-risk merchant account, but StandardPay goes the extra mile and will help you to obtain a complete online multi currency payment solution including your own Internet Merchant Account.”

MediaKey DRM-solution is a safeguard technology against piracy of digital content. Using Rights Manager, content owners can deliver music, videos and other digital media over the Internet in a protected format. The system makes it easy for consumers to legitimately obtain digital media licenses while at the same time protecting the rights of content owners.

“Piracy and illegal file sharing is most definitely a globally growing problem,” Standly told XBIZ. “As broadband connections continue to penetrate global markets, so does file sharing. The use of peer-to-peer networks is more popular than ever. Whereas Internet analysts tend to disagree about specific numbers, there seems to be consensus that more than 50 percent of the global IP-traffic originates from file sharing. Whereas I would like to believe, that there are many legitimate reasons for using P2P to collaborate across borders, experience tells me the majority of this traffic is related to piracy.”

Citing a previous XBIZ article on gay producer TitanMedia’s estimated $30 million in losses to piracy, according to Standly, “piracy probably constitutes the single biggest threat to the adult industry today.”

But there are several concerns for U.S. webmasters interested in accessing global markets, says Standly.

“U.S. webmasters are reluctant to enter the Euro markets for many more reasons. Unlike the U.S., Europe has language, legal, currency and culture barriers – just to name a few – that need to be addressed if you want to be successful,” Standly explained.

MediaKey supports a variety of billing models like rental, download-to-own and pay-per-view billing, which allows content owners to choose the models that best fit their needs.

“One of the important benefits is that our partnership with StandardPay will speed up U.S. webmasters’ time to market. If you believe content is king, MediaKey will protect their digital assets and StandardPay's billing and merchant solutions will ensure they get paid on time,” said Standly. “Our liaison and combined services are specifically designed to help webmasters make money and secure their revenue streams.”
