Another Bill Focuses on Porn-Viewing Federal Workers

HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Here’s one way to thin out the ranks of federal workers in the U.S. and save costs.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) has introduced a piece of legislation that would make watching porn from federal computers illegal.

Meadows has titled H.R. 680 the “Eliminating Pornography From Agencies Act.”

It’s the second time Meadows has introduced such legislation. Both other times, his bills died.

H.R. 680, if passed, instructs the director of the Office of Management and Budget to issue guidelines banning federal workers from accessing sexually explicit websites.

The bill, however, does not lay out penalties for infractions.

“While there are rules in place at most agencies to ban this kind of unprofessional and potentially hostile workplace behavior, it continues to take place. There is absolutely no excuse for federal employees to be viewing and downloading pornographic materials on the taxpayers’ dime,” Meadows said in a statement.

Some federal employees would be exempt from the proposed federal law — ones who view for investigative purposes.
