Fabian Thylmann Settles Tax Case With German Prosecutors

COLOGNE, Germany — Cologne prosecutors have settled their tax case against Fabian Thylmann, the former managing partner of Manwin, the adult entertainment conglomerate rebranded as MindGeek after he left the company.

Prosecutors in the long-running case alleged that Thylmann should have paid domestic taxes on services provided by a number of his foreign companies because the content had actually originated from Germany.

News of the settlement with prosecutors came from Juve.de, which reported that terms of the settlement with Thylmann included a €5 million fine.

Thylmann, who was spared prison time with the agreement, already was ordered to pay taxes of €26.25 million plus interest, Juve.de reported.

Thylmann was hit with the penalty and payment of €26.25 million in corporate taxes for the years 2008-2012.

The former operator of YouPorn.com, PrivataMateure.de and MyDirtyHobby.com, Thylmann sold his stake in Manwin in October 2013 to the company's "top management team," and the adult entertainment conglomerate rebranded as MindGeek 10 days later.

The selloff occurred shortly after Thylmann was initially accused of tax evasion and extradited from Belgium on a German warrant.

At the time, he deposited a bond in the “tens of millions” for his pre-trial release and his passport had been held.

Ahead, Thylmann has one more legal matter to focus on. An Aachen, Germany, court will determine on Dec. 19 whether he improperly deducted income tax of €650,000.
