Malaysia Cuts Off Access to More Than 1,000 Adult Websites

KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission today said it has blocked more than 1,000 porn websites in its “continuous effort to preserve good values upheld by the plural and multi-religious society in the country.”

According to a news report, the country’s communications and multimedia minister ordered the far-reaching block under the Communications and Multimedia Act of 1998.

Some of the top-visited adult sites were no longer accessible, according to the report, including XVideos.com, PornHub.com, xHamster.com, Xnxx.com, RedTube.com and YouPorn.com.

All told, 1,074 porn sites were blocked, with 106 more slated to be shut out from the South East Asian country.

With the announcement, Malaysian regulators also are seeking the public’s help in identifying “websites suspected of promoting pornography” on a complaint website.
