APAC Set for AIDS Walk Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — For the second consecutive year, members of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC) will participate in AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

The annual 10K event supports the prevention, care and advocacy for individuals living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County’s hardest hit communities. In 2014, APAC members raised more than $25,000, making them the eighth highest fundraiser out of more than 1,100 teams.

“We are so thrilled to come together and support this important event,” said APAC President Chanel Preston. “The money we raise directly benefits those living with HIV/AIDS in the form of medical care, food, or counseling, and during the event it is so emotional to see people coming together for this cause.

"Last year, we did a great job fundraising and want to thank everyone who participated and donated!  This year our goal is to do even better and become one of the top five fundraising teams.”

APAC members participating in the October 11 event will include many notable performers in the adult industry, including: Veruca James, Ryan Driller, Casey Calvert, James Deen, Dana DeArmond and Abigail Mac.

To date, DeArmond and Mac are the two highest earners on the team, having received more than $1000 each in donations. For those interested in either joining the APAC team, or offering a donation visit the APAC team page.

Since its inception in 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has raised more than $79 million with hundreds of thousands of supporters. The proceeds from the annual event primarily benefit AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) – a bilingual, community-based and volunteer-supported organization dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by HIV, reducing the incidence of HIV infection, and advocating for fair and effective HIV-related public policy. APLA offers HIV testing and education services, as well as additional assistance such as dental care, free food and housing support.  For more information, visit their webpage.

The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee advocates to maintain and improve safety and working conditions in the adult film industry by giving adult performers organized representation in matters that affect their health, safety and community. For membership information, accessing member benefits and attending events, visit the APAC website or contact apac.information@gmail.com.
