PlugRush Introduces Blacklists, Whitelists for Running Optimal Traffic Campaigns

BERGEN, Norway — PlugRush today said it has now added whitelist and blacklist tools to its popular traffic network and content marketing platform to help customers run optimal campaigns.

"PlugRush traffic comes from a lot of different sources," explains Thomas Skavhellen, chief brand officer of PlugRush. "Now when you see a traffic source that does not convert well, you can blacklist that source so you aren’t wasting your budget.

“Conversely, when you see a traffic source that works especially well, you can whitelist that source so it always receives favored status,” he said.

“It’s just like running a night club for example, you don’t want to let in the people who won’t buy your drinks. We are your bouncer and you control the guest list. We make sure your intended guests get in and the undesirables stay outside."

Skavhellen also said that in PlugRush’s continuous quest to give its customers the best information possible when analyzing their traffic quality, the company recommend third-party tools like Voluum, which is more powerful and sophisticated than standard tools like Google Analytics.

“The better an advertiser understands his or her traffic, the easier it is to use whitelists and blacklists effectively,” he said.

In addition to adding single domains to whitelists and blacklists, PlugRush customers can also use these lists to control IP addresses or even a full range of IP addresses. This approach is particularly useful for advanced customers looking to target specific mobile carriers, Skavhellen said.

"Many of our advertisers have their own list of IP addresses for different mobile operators," he said. "Customers can now build a whitelist for specific carriers, for example Vodafone in Spain. This makes it possible for them to build a very specific ad campaign that targets just that one specific carrier."

PlugRush started up in 2007 as a simple platform for trading traffic, and today is a full-featured traffic network that utilizes custom widgets to market content and move targeted traffic between publishers and advertisers.

With more than 50,000 publishers in the network that cover more than 270 territories worldwide, PlugRush serves more than 2 billion impressions per day.
