Vice Interviews Dana Vespoli About ‘Fluid 3’

VENICE, Calif. — Dana Vespoli’s latest release for Evil Angel, “Fluid 3,” contains a controversial scene inspired by real-life events — a scene which caught the attention of Vice.com.

In a storyline grabbed from the headlines, “Fluid 3” leans heavily on the case of former CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi, who is currently facing charges of sexual assault and choking — charges that he denies, saying that it was consensual rough sex.

“The scandal that made countless Canadian women (including myself) question their own personal experiences with grey areas of consent can now be viewed through the nuance of a for-profit porno,” Elianna Lev wrote for Vice.com, describing Dana’s latest video.

“I wanted to do something with water-bondage-type stuff and had an idea of someone interviewing a man with obscure sexual taste,” Dana says. “That scene isn’t making light of the Jian Ghomeshi thing.”

“I had one actress who said ‘I’d really enjoy exploring this in a safe place, because there’s something titillating and exciting about a man in power who’s dangerous, and I’m a woman who likes to take risks,’” Dana reveals. “I said, ‘Well, if that’s what you’d like, I’d like to shoot it.’ I can appreciate having a conversation about it.”

According to the article, the scene materialized after Sovereign Syre mentioned to Dana “that she was following the Ghomeshi scandal closely, and was aroused by certain elements of it — particularly the aspect of the power dynamic and the BDSM.”

“There’s a sexual fascination with it, not to take away what (allegedly) happened with these women,” Dana told Vice. “Of course people will take offense.”

“A lot of what I do offends people, I’m a pornographer,” Dana adds. “I know there’s going to be people who are offended and I know there's going to be people who find it titillating and exciting.”

“Fluid 3” stars Jessa Rhodes, Manuel Ferrara, London Keyes, Dana DeArmond, Wolf Hudson, Chad Diamond, Eric John, Sovereign Syre, Steven St. Croix, Stoya, Carter Cruise and Dana.

Dana has three videos nominated for this weekend’s 2015 XRCO Awards: “Hollywood Babylon,” is up for “Best Release,” while “Lesbian Anal P.O.V.” and “Girls Kissing Girls” are up for “Best Girl/Girl Series.”

The 2015 XRCO Awards will be held this Sat., April 11, at Lure Nightclub, 1439 Ivar Ave. in Los Angeles.

The red carpet opens at 6 p.m.
