New Webcam Attachment Helps Users Make Eye Contact

SEATTLE — Bodelin Technologies has released the See Eye 2 Eye (SE2E), a webcam attachment that, using mirrors, allows users to make eye contact while chatting online. It can also be used as a computer-attached teleprompter for podcasters and web show hosts to use when reading from notes or scripts.

Like a periscope, the SE2E reflects the image of the person on the computer screen onto another mirror that sits at the webcam’s eye level. Rather than staring down at the computer screen, users are able to look each other in the eye as they converse. The device is compatible with most internal and external webcams used with Apple, Sony and HP computers and, weighing 14 ounces, is easily attached and portable.

Peter White, director of sales and marketing for Bodelin, told XBIZ he has already sold 823 SE2Es and recently met with Apple to discuss selling the product in its retail stores.

“We thought we would sell 500 in a month, not 823 in a week!” White said.

The SE2E sells for $99 at the Bodelin Technologies site. Other dealers who carry the device are also listed online.
