Italian Court Auctioning Deposed Entrepreneur's Porn Collection

ROME — An Italian court recently announced that it will be auctioning off an expansive porn collection next week as part of an effort to compensate victims of a large-scale fraud operation.

The Court Auction House of Treviso located in northeast Italy set a starting price of 720 euros for the collection of 2,187 videos and DVDs, as well as “erotic accessories,” set to go on sale on Sept. 24.

One Italian newspaper that reported on the auction, Il Fatto Quotidiano, noted that it would take nearly six years to watch all of the material, if one video was watched per day.

The collection formerly belonged to local entrepreneur Luigi Compiano, whose assets were confiscated last year following the discovery that 40 million euros were missing from the vaults administered by his armored transport company, North East Service.

Through auctions, authorities are trying to recover at least some of the money Compiano is accused of having stolen. Other items, including hundreds of model cars and electric trains are also being sold next week, while other assets were auctioned earlier this year.

Compiano, by raiding company accounts, was said to have amassed 400 cars, 70 boats, 160 motorbikes, 60 racing bicycles as well as various sporting memorabilia.

The rarest vehicles in his collection, including four Jaguar E-types and a 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C, have yet to be sold, and could fetch a price of 15-million euros, according to authorities.
