Baldwin’s visit to KSEX Radio’s “The Wanker Show” hosted by Wankus and Tyler Faith, comes as he is set to star in his own VH1 reality show “The Baldwin Project,” which will focus on his newfound religion and follow the actor as he opens up his own ministry. Baldwin’s reality show will feature footage from the KSEX Radio debate as well as his visits to porn sets and adult industry events.
“I wish I could have been on longer to actually debate with Mr. Baldwin,” XFANZ Executive Editor Bob Preston told XBIZ. Preston was in the facility but wasn’t in the studio for a large portion of the debate. “In particular, Mr. Baldwin brought up the whole secondary-effects argument — the notion that porn shops attract riff-raff and cause crime. It’s a lousy argument with no evidence, and I would have loved to slam-dunk it. I was ready to.”
Preston continued, “Incidentally, Baldwin also argues that porn adds to the moral decay of our culture, when a simple glance at numbers from the U.S. Department of Justice show that violent crimes, including attempted and accomplished rapes, have dropped like a brick in the last 20 years — 20 years when this allegedly terrible porn has been booming in America. Studies that have been done in Sweden, West Germany and Japan show the same result: porn is a good and necessary release valve.”
KSEX Radio Program Director and porn jockey Wankus felt Baldwin presented his anti-porn stance in a reasonable and professional manner. Since Baldwin was not looking for a fight, Wankus said he wanted to give Baldwin an opportunity and a level playing field to debate his position without adult industry members attacking him from all angles.
“Too many people in this biz get an opportunity like this and handle themselves like obnoxious, childish, intellectually challenged buffoons,” Wankus told XBIZ. “They go in front of mainstream cameras and provide every good reason for America to see that they are right about this industry. That it is filled with scumbags. Tyler and I, and all the guests, didn’t kiss Baldwin’s ass once. In fact, I mocked him and disagreed with many of his points. But since he showed up in a very calm, agreeable and non-confrontational manner, I was not in a position as a professional host to take him to task, as it would’ve been in bad form and made absolutely no sense. How do you throw a punch at a man who is cooperating and answering all your questions fairly?”
Since being born again after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Baldwin has been an active anti-porn crusader, opposing the opening of an adult store in his hometown of Nyack, N.Y., and speaking out about the ills and dangers of adult entertainment.
