MindGeek Settles Cybersquatting Suits

LOS ANGELES — Adult entertainment conglomerate MindGeek has settled three cybersquatting lawsuits targeting 83 websites that used variations of the brands PornHub, Tube8 and YouPorn in domain names.

On Monday, MindGeek company officials said that the three cases of litigation, filed against unnamed John Doe defendants in August, were dismissed last month because its fight against specific cybersquatting defendants proved fruitful.

"These lawsuits have been very successful and that the consequence is that most of the domains were transferred back to us from the owners," MindGeek spokeswoman Stephanie Ford told XBIZ.

Ford declined to offer further terms and details, including identities of the Does, in the dismissals of the cases filed at Los Angeles federal court.

At the time of the suits' filings, MindGeek said that the defendants "were one or more individuals in the ‘business’ of registering Internet domain names, incorporating trademarks owned by others also known as cybersquatters."

MindGeek — in addition to YouPorn, Tube8 and PornHub, some of the Internet's largest adult tube sites — operates Brazzers, Twistys, Spankwire, RedTube, Webcams, ExtremeTube, KeezMovies, Mofos, ExtremeTube, JuicyBoys and PornHub, as well as Playboy Plus, Digital Playground and Reality Kings.

The three lawsuits, now dismissed, targeted the following domains: PornHub4all.com, Video-PornHub.com, PornHub.com.bz, PornHub.net.co, PornHub4u.com, PornHub2.net, HD-PornHub.com, your-10 PornHub.com, PornHub-xx.com, HQ- PornHub.com, FreePornHub.net, RawPornHub.com, PornHub HD.com, PornHub.pl , PornHub.de, PornHub.co, PornHub.cm , PornHub.cz, PornHube.com , PornHubs.com, PornHub.com, PornHub.com, PornHub.it, PornHub.eu, PornHub.net, PornHub.org, PornHub.fr, PornHub.es, PornHub.co.uk and PornHub.ru.
