ASACP to Launch International Campaign

LOS ANGELES — Attendees at this year’s upcoming AOE Budapest conference and expo will have the opportunity to learn more about the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) and its work on behalf of the online adult industry.

Adult Online Europe (AOE) is the premier trade event of the online adult industry in Europe. AOE Budapest runs Nov. 9-10 in conjunction with the World Telemedia Conference. Numerous mainstream and adult companies will be present, and their registration packets will include information about ASACP, which is among the event’s associates and partners.

In addition, Network for Online Commerce President Hugh Chambers will appear on a panel as part of the AOE/World Telemedia event, at which he will brief European participants who may not be familiar with ASACP about its history and activities.

According to ASACP Executive Director Joan Irvine, it is impossible to tackle the problem of online child pornography without an international approach.

“Child pornography is as global as the Internet itself,” she said. “U.S. law enforcement agencies and their overseas partners struggle to deal with different legal systems, and with the difficulty of tracking down international CP operators. This makes it even more vital that adult companies demonstrate good online citizenship and do what they can to help.”

Irvine plans to attend AOE Amsterdam in the spring, as part of ASACP’s growing effort to expand its outreach abroad. Current ASACP sponsors based in Europe include LiveSex.com and Private Media Group, and there are already ASACP member companies located in Spain, Greece, the Netherlands, Denmark and the U.K.
