LOS ANGELES — Four of the most well-known performers working in porn today will join a pair of the industry’s leading talent agents on an all-star panel at the XBIZ 360 Adult Film Conference this Thursday at the W Hotel in Hollywood.
Titled “Tomorrow's Adult Entertainment Celebrity,” the session is designed to explore what it takes to flourish as a porn star in the ultra competitive adult industry.
The confirmed speakers include Asa Akira, the 2012 XBIZ Female Performer of the Year; Vicky Vette, the 2013 XBIZ Web Star of the Year; Christy Mack, the 2013 Miss Free Ones winner; James Deen, the 2013 XBIZ Male Performer of the Year; Keiran Lee, Brazzers' most prolific contract performer; veteran agent Mark Spiegler, owner of Spiegler Girls; and Mark Schechter, owner of Adult Talent Managers and newly elected board member of the Free Speech Coalition.
Gram Ponante, veteran industry writer and editor of Gamelink.com's "Naked Truth" blog, will moderate the session scheduled for 2 to 2:50 p.m. at the Great Room 2 at the W Hotel.
“Since the 'job' of porn star continues to be defined, I especially admire the work ethic of each of our panelists,” Ponante said. “They have their ducks in a row and their heads on straight, in addition to being such entertaining raconteurs. It's going to be fun to moderate such a lively discussion.”
While generations of porn performers come and go, only a few leave lasting impressions both inside and outside the industry. In this era of tabloid headlines, so-called celebrity sex tapes and social media superstars, what does it take for professional performers to create a brand that transcends the industry?
While there are no clear paths to crossover stardom, there are proven strategies that work better than others. The accomplished group of porn personalities will discuss what it takes to stand out in a sea of performers who all want to be the next big thing.
The XBIZ 360 Adult Film Conference is being held concurrently with the Digital Media Conference this Thursday and Friday. The breadth of seminars will target every major area of the rapidly evolving business of adult movie creation and distribution.
Subjects will include genre trends and analysis of the latest technological advances, such as the new 4K screen resolution on the horizon and how up-and-coming and established talent are adapting in today's digital-driven era. The conference also will feature a special keynote presentation by Scott Taylor, founder of New Sensations.
