Prosecutors Charge 'Octomom' With Welfare Fraud

LOS ANGELES — "Octomom" Nadya Suleman, the mother of octuplets who went on to film the Wicked Pictures solo-masturbation video "Octomom Home Alone," could face nearly six years in jail for allegedly failing to disclose nearly $30,000 in earnings when she applied for welfare last year, prosecutors said Monday.

Suleman is scheduled to be arraigned Friday with one count of aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for aid, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said.

Suleman, who has a total of 14 children, illegally received $16,481 in welfare payments — $6,667 from the CalWorks financial assistance program and $9,814 from the CalFresh food aid program — during the first six months of 2013, the complaint said.

Suleman filed for welfare in Lancaster in January and February of last year, but in the following months didn’t report all of her income from personal appearances and residuals from videos, according to the complaint.

"She allegedly failed to report the extra income she earned between Jan. 1, 2013, and June 30, 2013," according to prosecutors.

In the 2012 film "Octomom Home Alone," Suleman pleasures herself in three different erotic scenarios.

The Brad Armstrong-directed DVD was distributed exclusively by Wicked Pictures, and Suleman later promoted the title nationwide in book signings and in numerous media appearances on TV and radio.

The 30-minute "Octomom: Home Alone" includes such unique bonuses as an in-depth interview with Suleman — conducted by Wicked Pictures exclusive Jessica Drake — and a behind-the-scenes featurette documenting Suleman' s long journey to Porn Valley and the production of her first adult video.

“I’m a more sexual being for having done this,” Suleman said in the video. “It’s the best, most powerful and most liberating thing I’ve ever done.”

Suleman first gained notoriety — and her Octomom moniker — in 2009 when she gave birth to octuplets after undergoing a controversial in vitro procedure.

As Suleman' s story made headlines around the world, it was soon discovered that her previous six children had also been conceived through in vitro fertilization.
