Porn-Surfing Execs Infecting Corporate Networks

SAN FRANCISCO — The demands of corporate leadership apparently is driving American executives toward online porn.

ThreatTrack Security, in a new blind survey asking 200 malware analysts, said that 40 percent of the IT professionals polled claim they’ve had to clean their senior leadership team member’s computers because they were infected by going to a porn site

Malware initiated at porn sites isn't the only problem, according to the survey.

Fifty-six percent of respondents said they’d had to deal with infections that came through malicious email links, 47 percent said their computers received infections from attached devices, 45 percent said a family members allowed infections and 33 percent said an installation of a malicious app did the trick.

With the study, researchers said the ability to defend against malware and other cyber threats has actually improved over the past year.

About 38 percent of malware analysts said it’s gotten easier to defend their company’s network from cyber attacks compared to only 27 percent who said it has become more difficult, according to the study. Another 35 percent said their capability to defend against cyber-attacks has stayed about the same.
