Ex-Porn Star Lupe Fuentes Dishes for The Washington Times

LOS ANGELES — Ex-porn star Lupe Fuentes dished about her new music career and her exit from adult for an article in The Washington Times.

Just in time for Halloween, Fuentes and her band, "Lupe Fuentes and The Ex-Girlfriends" performed their first live show at Rob Zombie’s Great American Nightmare in Pomona, California on Oct. 24.

She told the Times that although music is her passion, the main reason she left porn was because of her family — particularly her mother.

Although her porn career ended abruptly in 2011, Fuentes said it wasn’t hard leaving the industry.

“I mean, to get out wasn’t hard because you just stop, you know? But I feel like it’s hard to change people’s minds. It’s hard to make people see the person instead of the actress, instead of the body, instead of that porn star. That’s hard. I feel at the end of the day, I do this for myself and not for what anybody else thinks. So, that’s my goal,” Fuentes said.

The one-time Wicked Pictures and Teravision star also noted that her adult stint both hurt and helped her music career, and that fans are often on the fence about her leaving the business.

“It’s different, it’s different every time. I get a lot of guys saying, ‘No, go back to porn,' but I feel like if somebody is used to seeing you in a way, of course they don’t want to change. They don’t want to change their mind and they don’t want to evolve with you. It’s not a bad thing. I’m a person, an entity, alive. I change all the time. Yeah, some of them are against it. Some of them love it. I feel like I gained new fans, for sure.”

Fuentes said her future plans include a full-length album that’s in the works, a possible music tour (targeting gay clubs), her DJ career, writing music and a film documentary about her life.

When asked if she regretted jumping into porn first instead of music, Fuentes said she probably wouldn’t have changed a thing.

“All the things that happened, bad or good, made me the person I am today and I feel strong, you know? And all the things I’ve been through, in some ways, have helped me and hurt, but it they definitely made me a strong person,” Fuentes said.
