Asa Akira Signs Exclusive Contract With Wicked Pictures

LOS ANGELES —Adult megastar Asa Akira told XBIZ that she will be joining Wicked Pictures as a contract girl, a dream she said she’s had since before she was in porn.

“It’s funny because after the deal was done I found this list that I had written in like 2011, and it was just a list of things I wanted to accomplish, like 'Win a performer of the year award,' 'Be successful,' and the last thing on it was, 'Get a Wicked Contract.' It was a silly list and I had totally forgotten about it, but it was cool to see that,” Akira said.

After announcing the news about her one-year contract with Wicked at the Sex Awards last night, the 2012 XBIZ Performer of the Year officially accomplished the top three goals on her list.

Because Akira’s work tends to err on the rougher side, she said some people didn’t see the obvious fit between her and Wicked, but she isn’t deterred: she said she plans to “mesh her style” with that of Wicked, dirty side in tow.

“I don’t want people to see this as me slowing down by any means,” she said, adding that, as a Wicked girl, she will continue to direct for Elegant Angel and feature dance, although she may be shooting less, volume-wise. She also noted that Wicked’s condom-only policy is a plus for her.

“It’s kind of like the right fit at the right time,” Mark Spiegler, Akira’s agent, told XBIZ.

Akira’s first picture with Wicked is already in the works, but she could not release further details. She is currently working on a book — something “memoirish” — that will release in the spring of 2014.

A New York native, Akira is widely considered one of the industry’s top performers, racking up more than 300 movie credits since beginning a full-time porn career in 2008. In the process, Akira has also amassed two dozen industry awards, including the 2013 X-Rated Critics Organization Female Performer of the Year award.
