Fantasy Genre Driving Porn Crowdfunding

CYBERSPACE — Aspiring porn companies seeking crowdfunding money would be wise to look at the sci-fi, gaming and comic book genres.

According to a report in the AtlanticWire, adult Kickstarter-like programs like pioneer Offbeatr.com are seeing porn fans clamoring for more fantasy in their filth — and they’re willing to pay companies to create it.

“While Offbeatr has saucy projects like a Mormon-themed gay porno, and some altruistic ones like an AIDS awareness-themed coffee book, what anyone seeking to make money (listen up porn companies) should be looking at are on the site's 'successful projects' tab. And that tab has a distinctly comic-bookish, sci-fi, video game feel,” the Atlantic reported.

Some of the successfully funded projects include "Poni Parade," and video game "Trials in Tainted Space" that both earned more than 1,000 percent of their asking donations. "Trials," described as an “erotic, ultimately customizable, textual adventure game " earned more than $190,000.

The “Trials” description reads, ”You play as personalized character bent on making his or her fortune among the stars, starting out with only the ship left behind by a deceased father.  From there, you plunder the mysteries of the universe... particularly if they're curvy, well hung, or both.  It's about discovering the exotic and the erotic.”

“Poni Parade” is decribed as an adult fan book, and another project, “Night of the Dragon’s Embrace” is the proposed creation and printing of an explicit comic book.

A Pokemon-like game "Pocket Pussies,” for Android, iOS, mobile and PCs started by a former developer from Rockstar Games, and artist from Deviantart.com, has chalked up $23,334 and still has more than a month to meet its goal.

Other successful start-ups include “Venus Rising,” with ancient bordellos and orgies that earned more than $6,000, and gay-themed anime-like book, “Hardblush Boystown" that racked up $23,332.

More of these fantasy-based porn projects are also gaining steam including “Redemption of the Crimson Empress,” described as “a single player standalone adult game in the Japanese Futanari (hermaphrodite) style with aspects of solitaire, an rpg/sim, and a visual novel.”

And porn site CandyGirlVideo.com has also jumped on the fantasy bandwagon seeking funding for “Sexy Blades” — a “Game of Thrones"-like adult site that’s just beginning to make headway. Founder Jason Hadden says on Offbeatr that he's a huge fan of fantasy films and shows and only needs $5000 to hire three models.
