Porn Guardian, GayTorrent.ru Strike Deal to Eliminate Infringing Content

LOS ANGELES — Porn Guardian has consummated a deal with Russian peer-to-peer sharing torrent site GayTorrent.ru to remove its client’s infringing content.

Porn Guardian has already traced thousands of infringing files on tube sites and cyber locker storage sites back to initial torrents that had been housed on GayTorrent.ru, beginning with those they deemed “most egregious,” Porn Guardian partner Peter Phinney said.

“This is a giant step in the fight against digital piracy of adult content,” he continued. “It puts one of the most important, high-profile offenders on the right side of the law for the first time in years. We hope other torrent sites under pressure from our clients will follow this extraordinary example of a sea change in peer-to-peer sharing.”

GayTorrent.ru has developed a special backend removal tool that will allow Porn Guardian to instantly delete infringing torrents and then follow up with standard DMCA language and take down notices.

Dominic Ford, Porn Guardian's partner, said the gay side of the industry has been the company’s “mainstay” for years, although they represent a variety of adult content niche clients.

“We hope that by removing torrents virtually as soon as they appear, we will be able to stem the initial spread of stolen videos,” Phinney said. “This is huge for the gay side of adult.”

The Porn Guardian team believes that the protection of intellectual property rights in adult is now plausible due to their monetization program for content owners through FilesMonster.com and their success in several high-profile lawsuits, including one which toppled Oron.com.
