Larry Flynt Offers 'The Hollywood Reporter' 6 Tips for Porn Stars

LOS ANGELES — Hustler founder Larry Flynt offered “six tips for porn stars” in a feature for The Hollywood Reporter.

Along with a photo gallery called “Larry Flynt: The Inner Life of a Dirty Old Man,” and another feature profiling the adult industry icon, the magazine’s website offered Flynt’s advice to porn stars including tips about changing studios, being professional, staying away from agents, working the press, judging themselves properly, and cautionary advice for girls wanting to get into porn.

Regarding studio hopping, Flynt said, “Make sure you don’t always work for the same studio. The pay differs depending on who you’re working for, and if you’re really talented, you’ll want to move around and let other producers and directors know you.”

Flynt also advised porn stars to be realistic about their attractiveness and that they have to really like sex or it won’t come through on camera.

“Don’t be dippy,” Flynt also advised, explaining that performers need to be professional in all aspects of their jobs including their looks, and showing up on time.

The always-candid Flynt also shared sage advice about the perceived glamour of the porn industry, and its possible pitfalls of filming sex scenes.

“I wouldn’t advise them [would-be performers] to do it. There’s a difference between a girl that makes a movie and a girl that poses for a magazine. Most of the girls that pose for the magazine aren’t doing it for the money; they’ve got great bodies, and they’re doing it for posterity’s sake. But where the money is to be made is if they move into films, and I wouldn’t advise that. You get used up very quickly: Within three or four months, the average girl will just get used up. It just takes your soul, you know? It just takes your soul,” Flynt told The Hollywood Reporter.

An accompanying feature profiling Flynt that was originally published in the March 8 edition of The Hollywood Reporter magazine is also available online.
