Study Finds Europeans Embracing Porn More Than Ever

LONDON — A new study commissioned by smart TV content provider Forno.tv has found that European consumers love their porn and that more people will view adult material if it’s in a safe environment.

The company studied the habits of German, French and British porn buyers in an effort to better understand the lucrative European porn market.

Forno's Internet-based survey queried representative samples of populations split by age, region of each country, and gender. It asked where porn was viewed, its social acceptability, and quality of content and online technical problems.

Of “extreme high importence" was the peak porn viewing age for viewing porn. The survey results showed that 26 to 35 years olds was the largest viewing group, while 18 to 25 year olds thought it was least important — a finding the company said was somewhat surprising and “suggested a generational shift in the significance of pornography.”

“We wanted to see past commonly held beliefs about who watches porn and get a true understanding of people’s viewing preferences,” marketing director Matthew Rahman told Broadband TV News.

Brits were the biggest porn hounds, with 75 percent reporting they are more likely to watch porn alone, especially on their smartphones and tablets.

“With smart TVs, viewers are guaranteed a safe and secure experience, free from the sort of virus problems associated with online adult content,” Rahman said.

In contrast, Germans are the most sociable porn viewers, with 22 percent saying they watch outside of their homes with friends, and 40 percent with their partner.

Forno noted that another survey found 64 percent of men watch porn with their partners, so channeling the content to their main entertainment system was important.

“Our research showed not only a much wider acceptance of porn than previously thought, but also that people are more likely to watch porn if it’s available in a secure environment, such as on their TV at home,” Rahman said.

Launched earlier this year, Forno recently added Private Media content to its offferings.
