Gay Cannibal Murder Suspect Nabbed in Berlin

BERLIN — Gay performer and murder suspect Luka Rocco Magnotta has been arrested at a Berlin Internet cafe.

An arrest warrant was issued for Magnotta, 29, last Thursday that sparked a global manhunt that landed him on Interpol's most wanted list.

Berlin police spokeswoman Kerstin Ziesmer said, "Officers arrested him on the site, he did not put up any resistance. He says he is the wanted person."

She cautioned however that his identity must still be confirmed by German authorities. He is being questioned and will apear before a judge behind closed-doors who will read out the international arrest warrant later.

Magnotta is believed to have killed his Chinese lover, 33-year-old student Jun Lin, dismembering and raping the corpse, ingesting the flesh and sending various body parts through the mail.

The heinous act was videotaped and then posted online. Police said both men can be seen in the footage.

One of the victim’s severed feet was mailed to the Canadian Conservative Party headquarters, addressed to the Liberal party of Canada. A torso was also found in a suitcase on a garbage dump in Montreal, outside Magnotta's apartment building.

In addition to murder, Magnotta is wanted for threatening the Canadian prime minister and using the mail system for delivering "obscene, indecent, immoral or scurrilous" material.

According to police, Magnotta’s real name is Eric Clinton Newman and also goes by the name of Vladimir Romanov.

Animal rights activists have also been on the hunt for Magnotta for more than two years after an online video surfaced of a man resembling him who was torturing kittens.

Magnotta was reportedly linked to Canadian serial killer Karla Homolka in 2007. He got his start in gay and bisexual porn doing webcam shows in Los Angeles at the age of 20.
