PasswordByPhone Adds Latin America

BELMOPAN, Belize — PasswordByPhone, an international payment processor that allows surfers to pay for website memberships without a credit card, has added Latin America to its global billing reach. The service is now available in more than 240 countries.

Surfers in Chile, Columbia, Panama and Uruguay are now able to place a phone call to get a website password in their native language. Geo-targeted ads on participating sites automatically detect the country and language of the user accessing the website. The surfer then enters the generated password for full members’ access on the site to view 30 minutes of content.

"Given the open archticture of the web, it is important that webmasters sell to a global audience, in their language," Marc Jarrett, PasswordByPhone’s business development manager told XBIZ. "Latin America, together with Russia, China and Brazil are sleeping giants and represent a huge opportunity for webmasters in the forthcoming years."

The company believes webmasters are more likely to convert international traffic by communicating with the surfer in their native languages. PasswordByPhone.com pays up to $10 per each phone password and offers a tiered commission ratio depending on what country the call originates from.

Additionally, webmasters can choose to market PasswordByPhone’s prepackaged sites or just use its geo-targeted phone password system for their own exclusive content. The company pays its affiliates every two weeks and claims to have paid more than $250 million to its partners.

“Most people worldwide do not have a credit card,” Jarrett said. “But by definition, all surfers have access to a phone line.”
