NakedSword Screening Bruce LaBruce’s 'L.A. Zombie'

SAN FRANCISCO – NakedSword is featuring celebrated gay independent filmmaker Bruce LaBruce’s most recent film, “L.A. Zombie,” on its video-on-demand membership site.

Since debuting last week, “Zombie” has climbed the NakedSword “most watched” charts. It will continue on the site through May 31.

The film stars a galaxy of blue-chip gay performers — Francois Sagat, Rocco Giovanni, Wolf Hudson, Eddie Diaz, Matthew Rush, Francesco D'Macho, Adam Killian — and was made for less than $100,000 in Los Angeles in 2009.

In the movie, Sagat is a homeless schizophrenic who thinks he's an alien zombie sent to Earth. While roaming the streets in search of corpsesad bodies he tries to bring the dead back to life by engaging in sex.

“Being able to debut “L.A. Zombie” is in line with what our mission has been for some time, starting with the premiere of 'Golden Gate' last year,” said NakedSword CEO Tim Valenti, “and that’s to deliver original, engrossing, and yes, sometimes controversial content that our members simply won’t find anywhere else. LaBruce’s film is nothing short of mind-blowing.”

LuBruce's film also has been banned. Last year, the film was cancelled at the Melbourne International Film Festival because it was refused a classification exemption by the Australian Film Classification Board.

Censors concluded that implied sex with dead bodies by an alien zombie breached local community standards. But, later, the same board said it could be released in Australia as an adults-only DVD if it were submitted for classification.
