Protestors Stage Rally Against .XXX

SAN FRANCISCO — Adult industry protestors took to the streets today to voice their opposition to the proposed .XXX sponsored top level domain.

The protestors, carrying various anti-.XXX posters, marched outside the Westin Hotel where ICANN is set to vote on the sTLD tomorrow.

Various adult industry members were on hand including FSC Executive Director Diane Duke, membership director Joanne Cachapero, Evil Angel founder John Stagliano, performers Jizz Lee, Kara Price, Brooke Ashley and others.

Those who oppose .XXX say the adult industry has no need for an additional TLD, which would be used to either host or redirect content back to their existing .com pages.

John Sander, vice president of marketing and business development for Kink.com, estimated that the new .XXX domain would cost the company $100,000 per year for the "thousands and thousands of domains" that Kink.com owns.

Sander said that the site's revenue was publicly revealed as about $20 million per year about four years ago, and that the site's revenue had grown "very substantially" since then.

Cachapero said that .XXX would add unnecessary costs to existing domains and registrations.

XBIZ will have full coverage of the vote as it happens.
