Sex-toy Shopping Gets Mainstream TV Break

LOS ANGELES — The “Lovers Shopping Network” debuts this month on DirecTV, as well as on other television media outlets and online, as a TV shopping show offering a variety of novelties, lotions and sensual products.

Adult distributor New Beginnings will be doing the entire order fulfillment for “Lovers Shopping Network."

Susan Colvin, president and founder of California Exotic Novelties, said, "California Exotic Novelties is pleased to support any new venue that presents an opportunity to showcase our product line. We wish Lover's Shopping Network the best."

“Lovers Shopping Network” also will start off offering products from the top manufacturers of adult novelties, including Nasswalk, Pipedream Products, Topco Sales and Doc Johnson.

“‘Lovers Shopping Network’ will showcase women’s and men’s products that are unique,” the company said. “They will be presented with a less-clinical approach that’s fun and entertaining, yet very informative.”

New Beginnings says the show will rotate within the range of shopping channels offered on DirecTV, broadcasting to more than 16.8 million households.

Entertaining a mainstream audience should come easy to “Lovers Shopping Network” host Emily Underwood, aka Emily Bikini, who currently appears on a Los Angeles-based reality show called “Life in a Bikini,” which airs on local cable network KDOC.

“Life in a Bikini” features Underwood as she goes from working as an administrative assistant for a building restoration firm in Tacoma, Wash., to working for a marketing company, where she gets her big break when she was given the opportunity to fill in for a model that didn’t show for an assignment. She later moved into fashion and glamour modeling.

“I love being sexy and naked, and that doesn't in any way take away from my intellect,” Underwood said. “This is a blast, and along with what is quickly becoming something of a television career, I really love the sexy side of what I do.”

Appearances on cable shows, including “Deadliest Catch” have strengthened Underwood’s fan base and inspired the launch of her official website EmilyBikini.com. Fans also can join her membership website, EmilyNoBikini.com, featuring nude photos and videos of Underwood.

“Emily and her EmilyNoBikini.com offers a unique opportunity to see a mainstream star in the nude,” the company said, adding that her inexperience as a “sex toy expert” is what will give “Lovers Shopping Network” a fun perspective that consumers can relate to.

“Reviewing sex toys is not so much about being expert on manufacturing details,” the company said.

Underwood will occasionally be joined by special guests on “Lovers Shopping Network,” and uncensored episodes of the show will be featured on LoversShopping.com.
