Adobe's Flash to Go 3D

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Adobe is planning to release a 3D version of its Flash software, allowing games and videos to be played in 3D online.

The news comes before the Adobe Max conference in October, where a “Flash Player 3D future” presentation is scheduled, according to Telegraph.co.uk .

Thibault Imbert, Adobe’s product manager, confirmed in a blog post that there will be support for 3D applications in a future version of Flash and that “it is going to be big.”

"If you are into 3D development for games, augmented reality or just interactive stuff like websites, you just can’t miss the session entitled Flash Player 3D future scheduled for Max 2010 scheduled on October 27,” the blog post said.

Imbert added that the company’s Flash Player engineer will deep dive into the next generation 3D API coming in a future version of the Flash Player.

Adobe estimates that between 92 and 95 percent of all Internet desktop users have the latest version of the Flash Player installed and 99 percent have one version or another.
