Thais Use Most Porn During Sex, Poll Says

BANGKOK, Thailand — After an exhaustive polling process, condom maker Durex published results of a global sex poll earlier this week that ranks 41 countries on everything from porn consumption to likelihood of condom use.

According to the poll, Thai men are the mostly likely to view porn while having sex, with 67 percent reporting they use it regularly. Thai women also were fairly likely to get off with Jenna in the background, as 45 percent said they tend to view pornography during sex.

Thais didn’t rank so hot when it comes to foreplay, however, averaging only about 11 minutes, well below the global foreplay average of 19.7 minutes. Brits topped the foreplay category, averaging 22.5 minutes, while Germans ran a close second at 22.2 minutes. The U.S. matched the global average, with respondents reporting about 19.7 minutes devoted to foreplay.

In terms of locations in which to have sex, the car was the most favored place outside the bedroom, according to the poll, followed by toilets, a parent’s bedroom and parks.

Greek men are apparently the horniest, or perhaps the most hyperbolic in the poll, claiming to have sex an average of 138 times a year, or more than once every three days. Japanese respondents were the lowest, or perhaps the most honest, reporting sex about 45 times a year, or about once every eight days.

Norwegian men have the most unprotected sex, with nearly 60 percent reporting they had engaged in sex without a condom, topping the global male average of 47 percent. Greeks were the second most likely to dive in uncovered and Swedes were third. The U.S. also beat the average, with 51 percent of respondents reporting they had unprotected sex on at least one occasion without knowing their partner’s sexual background.

Not surprisingly, women were found to be less likely to take unprotected risks than men, though not by much, with a global average of about 45 percent of women saying they had unprotected sex.

According to the poll, Iceland has the largest per-capita of vibrators, with 52 percent of Icelandic women reporting ownership. About 50 percent of Norwegian women reported owning vibrators and 43 percent of U.S. respondents.

The global average for losing one’s virginity was just under 16 years of age, with about 40 percent saying they did it to find out what sex was like, while 23 percent said they did it because they were in love.

Durex reported 317,000 respondents took part in the poll, now in its ninth year.
