ASACP Has Opportunity for Performers

LOS ANGELES — ASACP has announced the launch of a special Star Supporter level to allow solo-site performers an opportunity to join the organization in the fight against child pornography.

The new Star Supporter program allows performers who operate solo-sites to join ASACP for only $50 a year. ASACP, known formally as the Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection, is completely funded by the adult industry and companies who have memberships or sponsorships.

According to the association, the Star Supporter program was designed for performers who want to support ASACP's child-protection mission, but are unable to afford to join at a higher level, to become involved.

"Star Supporters will receive some of benefits reserved for ASACP members such as having their site reviewed and monitored by ASACP and being able to add the ASACP Star Supporter button to their site," stated an association release. "This in turn demonstrates they are following ASACP's code of ethics, while letting their fans know they care about children. They will also be able to have this site eligible for the new RTA 'Restricted To Adults' Verified program."

"There are many performers who want to show their support for child protection, but are currently unable to join on as an ASACP member or sponsor," ASACP CEO Joan Irvine said. "The Star Supporter Program allows them to demonstrate their social responsibility."

"We felt it was important to implement this program after meeting with Pete Housley of PornStarTweet," Irvine added. "With his assistance we were able to work together to create a program to help solo-site performers protect children online."

PornStarTweet.com uses the Twitter platform to aggregate the Twitter feeds of dozens of popular stars.

"Parents are ultimately responsible for their children's experiences online," CEO of PornStarTweet Pete Housley offered. "However, we all must work together to provide parents the tools they need to protect their children. By labeling with RTA, and following ASACP's Best Practices and Code of Ethics, the adult industry is doing its part."

"Since so many adult performers use Twitter, I worked with ASACP to help them to update their Best Practices to help adult stars protect themselves and children while tweeting," Housley added. "We hope that solo-site performers will not only join the Star Supporter program, but that they will share with their fans what the adult industry is doing to protect children."
