Penthouse Celebrates 40th Anniversary With Collector’s Edition

NEW YORK — In honor of its 40th anniversary, Penthouse has published a double-issue Special Collector’s Edition magazine, which hits newsstands tomorrow.

Some retailers also will offer customers a Penthouse DVD or 24-page pictorial bonus outsert with the magazine.

The magazine features classic material, including exposes and humor pieces, as well as more than 90 photo pages of Penthouse models.

New content, such as interviews with country singer Jason Aldean and comedian David Cross and feature articles with topics including the military mortgage crisis, also will be included. The issue includes new pictorials with Pet of the Month Taylor Vixen and cover model Gemma Massey.

“The 40th anniversary issue features the best of Penthouse from yesterday and today,” Executive Editor Barbara Rice Thompson said. “We are extremely proud of the magazine and excited for Penthouse loyalists to see what we have in store for them! This special issue also shows new readers the high-quality erotic images and editorial they can expect every month in our 21st century incarnation.”

The company reports that many wholesalers and specialty distributor accounts internationally have ordered additional copies in anticipation of increased sales of the special issue. According to the company, it also has expanded its distribution to include several new major retail chains.

In promotion of the anniversary issue, Penthouse Pets Julie Strain, Taylor Vixen and Aimee Sweet, as well as the Manhattan Madam and Kristin Davis, are scheduled to appear on various media outlets. In addition, Howard Stern’s On Demand channel, Howard TV, will feature an hour-long special called “Best of the Penthouse Pets” for the durations of the issue’s sale period.

Penthouse also announced a 40th anniversary party set for the fall.
