Adult Apps Flourish in iPhone Black Market

LOS ANGELES — On the heels of a tightening of standards against adult, at least one company still wants to build adult apps for the iPhone.

The company is called The Adult App Store, and they just rolled out a new app called iPornStudio. It's not the first adult app for the popular handheld device, but it's one of the few.

Because of Apple's standing ban on adult apps, anyone who would want to pay the 1 pound for it would have to "crack" their own iPhone to use it.

But that's not stopping the Adult App Store team. Company representative Ben told XBIZ that they're happy to add to the modest adult app library if only to "put one in the face of Apple." He also said that his company is "in talks" to develop apps for specific adult companies, though he didn't give any names.

"There is definitely [the room] to make a lot of money in this area, even without being official," he said. "We are able to setup payment systems and download services for nonofficial apps, and the scene here is still very big."

The "scene" he's referring to is the iPhone app scene, which has seen hundreds of millions of downloads — and a comparable amount of money — made. The black market for iPhone apps has many portals, including NativeiPhoneApps.com.

That said, there's still the matter of cracking an iPhone. The Adult App Store's Ben recommended this tutorial, but there many others.

Cracking an iPhone risks incurring the wrath of Apple, which has previously dispatched code to turn cracked iPhones into useless bricks.

That didn't stop tech analyst Tim Wu from cracking his iPhone, though.

"Unlocking works, is doable, and improves the iPhone," Wu wrote for Slate.com. "But while unlocking can be fun, it's still a vaguely scary process, a little like installing your own car brakes."

Other adult apps available for cracked iPhones include iBrate, which turns the device into a makeshift vibrator; Kama Sutra Training; iPhone Porn Grid; and One Tap Porn.
