Feminist Porn Awards Now Accepting Entries

TORONTO — Entries are now being accepted for the fourth annual Feminist Porn Awards, presented by Toronto feminist sex boutique Good for Her.

"It's not a huge section of the market, but it's definitely getting bigger," Good for Her manager Alison Lee told XBIZ. "We hope that if we open it up, we can reach more people."

In order to be considered for a Feminist Porn Award, a production must meet at least one of the following criteria: A woman had a hand in the production, writing, direction or other aspect of the work; it depicts genuine female pleasure; it expands the boundaries of sexual representation on film and challenges stereotypes.

The winners will be selected by Good for Her employees and a committee of "people who are involved in porn, either academically or practically," Lee said.

A two-night celebration is planned for late April in Toronto, with the Feminist Porn Awards and Feisty Feminist Porn on the Big Screen "to honor pornographers who go the extra mile to appeal to women and couples, as well as marginalized communities."

The official nomination period for consideration for the Good for Her Feminist Porn Awards opened Dec. 1 and will close on Feb. 24. Entrants should send three or more DVD screener copies to:
