Power.com Aggregates Social Networks Into 1 Interface

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil — A new social-networking aggregator has caught the attention of a prominent tech analyst.

The site is called Power.com, and it offers full aggregation services for users on Facebook, MySpace, Orkut and Hi5. Registration is instantaneous – users can simply enter in their login information for any of the supported sites to get access to the Power.com dashboard.

Despite the presence of aggregating sites like FriendFeed.com and SocialThing.com, TechCrunch.com's Michael Arrington heaped praise on the Power.com experience.

"There has never been an effective way of aggregating and merging all the data and activity on these sites into a single user interface," he said, later adding that Power.com does just that.

Power.com assembles all activity from these social networking sites into one modular dashboard. In addition, users can respond to messages or comment on activity directly through the Power.com interface.

The site also boasts other bells and whistles, Arrington noted.

"If you visit one of the social networks through the Power site, the pages are marked up with additional functionality," he said. "Click a button to start chatting with the user over MSN chat, if they are a Power.com user."

On the downside, Arrington said that users who activate their Facebook profiles through Power.com can't keep their profiles private – at least not yet. To date, Power.com has amassed 5 million users, mostly from Orkut.

Adult star Nikki Benz maintains profiles on several social networking sites, including MySpace and Facebook, though when it comes to networking, she is less concerned about what her fans are doing then she is about keeping her fans up to date on her own activities.

"It would be more useful for me if they used it so they could keep track of what I was up to," she said.
